Preparing for NATA in 9th Class: A Head Start

I know what you're thinking-think ahead and get a head start on things; still, it's usually after 12th class when one takes NATA. Well, you can, at least, definitely start building a strong foundation for your future architectural career.

Here are some tips:

1. Develop Artistic Skills:

Drawing: Do it daily. Practice perspective, proportion, and shading. Intensively practice making drawings.

Sketching: Get an object, people, or landscape and sketch them to improve your observational skills.

Colour and Painting : Experiment with various mediums to acquire knowledge of color theory and composition.

2. Develop Spatial Reasoning:

Solve and Play with Sudoku, Rubik's Cube, and jigsaw puzzles to enhance spatial reasoning.

3D Modeling: Learn to use 3D modeling software to explore and design 3D models.

3. General Knowledge Acquistion

Read Broadly: Read books, magazines, and articles on architecture, art, and design.

Keep Up To Date: Subscribe to architectural news and trend updates.

Visit Architectural Sites: See the local architecture landmarks and history buildings.

4. Focus on Academic Course:

Mathematics: A minimum level of mathematical skills is a part of your architectural education. Do exercises in problem-solving and geometry.

Science: Physics and chemistry will be part of your lesson, especially when dealing with materials and structures.

5. Expand your Creativity:

Arts and Craft: You'll be involved in activities like painting, sculpting, or crafting.

Design Thinking: A course on design thinking principles to seek creative answers to problems.

Remember, while these activities can serve as a good foundation for you, proper preparation for NATA would have to be in more focused efforts during the last years of your schooling.

As you go through your education process, take some classes in art, architecture workshops, or online courses to gain specialized knowledge and acquire skills. Never cease curiosity, and continue to explore and experiment with what you discover in each creative technique.
