let me clear it out that if you are choosing mechanical engineering for b.tech its the best branch and also an evergreen branch.

mechanical engineers will never face downfall regarding jobs,even mechanical engineer can also opt for IT comapany as well if he is so worried for his placement.

believe me if have the capability you can get placement from any college i can tell you.

Mechanical engineering is one of the evergreen branch at those days.But now a days because more software develpoment,Computer science and engineering ,Information Technology has more value than any other branches.

But if you excel in a good way in your 4 years of engineering,obviously you will succeed in your career life that may be mechanical or any other field.
In Germany Mechanical has much importance.Please go through that.

As a first year student your concern is valid, everybody faecs this question in this phase.

However, beleive me, there is nothing like scope in this branch or that branch, technologies are ever evolving in this world of advancements and forget about branches but there is tremendous scope for talaented engineers! focus on that study hard, clear all your fundamentals, build great commuication skills and writting skills, try and meet a lot of people from your area of interest from there you will learn a lot about industry scenario.

I also reccomend to read wings of fire by Dr. A.P.J. Abdul kalam, this will motivate you.

As long as you are good in basics you learn in your college and have good communication skills, there will be always great scope for your progress in career in mechanical field.
