Absolutely you can apply for EWS. EWS will be issued only based on the CENTRAL SC,ST,OBC LIST only eligibility criteria for EWS. All general category Hindu, Muslim, Sikh, Christian, Jain, Parsi are eligible for EWS it is for entire general category people irrespective of their caste religion or faith.

The two major criteria for EWS certificate is.

1) should not come under sc/ st/ obc

2) Family income should be below 8 lacks
