Hope you doing well, According to my knowledge the better performance marksheet will be valid. If you clear compartment, the fresh marksheet will obviously show this as the better performance. The confusion begins in case of improvement. If you've applied for improvement in one or more subjects, the final result will show the marks in which your performance has been higher, else the previous marks will hold.
