Since you belong to the General category, you should have a minimum of 74marks to qualify and you have scored 62 marks which means you have not qualified. But, you are having a good percentage in your board exams. So, I feel you should not drop out, instead you should apply for private colleges or universities. If you are still interested in joining in NITs, I suggest you join B-tech for now and simultaneously prepare for mains and write thee exam next year.
