Well if you obtained a preparatory rank in JEE Advanced then how can you expect to get admission in one of the regular courses in any of the IITs? It is simply impractical to ask these sort of questions.

Take admission in preparatory course as it is a good opputunity to strengthen your basics and get admission in IIT Btech course after one year of study which would be much better than taking a drop!
