Dear Aspirant,

In the Merchant Navy there are broadly 3 departments-

• The Deck Department
• The Engine Department
• The Galley Department

Now if you want to join the Merchant Navy then based on your experience it is obvious that you will be going for a job in the Galley department. Now if you want to be a cook in the Galley department then you need to posses relevant degree on culinary subjects. Again if you telling that you have an experience in the hotel industry then it will be a plus point for you to join Merchant Navy especially in the Cruise Shipping Industry.
