So, its a good option to study at Indian institute in which serious and original research is going on, according to me the best places are in theoretical physics-

(Not in Order)

TIFR , group of theoretical physics.HRI, String theory group is the best.IMSCRRI,BangloreCenter for theoretical studies, IIT KGP.Saha institute,kolkataSN Bose National Center for basic Sciences.Center for Theoretical Physics,JMI,Delhi, its Astrophysics group is very strong.Indian institute of science,High energy physics group.IIT MadrasIIT KanpurPhysical Research laboratory, AhmadabadCMI, ChennaiIISEAR MOHALI, Trivandum, bhopal.Indian Association for cultivation of science,CalcuttaUniversity of Delhi
