Your category rank of 2844 is very good and you are likely to secure a seat in good NITs. You can even secure a lower branch in the best NIT that is NIT Warangal. You have a fair chance in decent enough branches in Tier-1 NITs and you can definitely get branches like EEE, ECE, CIVIL, MECHANICAL and even CSE in MID level NITs like Raipur, Durgapur, Rourkela, Jamshedpur, etc. You can try college predictor of Careers360 for better guidance.
