There are few factors based on which your rank has scaled down to 44k.

1. There are probably those students who have utilised one of their TWO chances well and scored better than you.

2. In case of tie, your score in Maths will be low and those who are having good score in Maths and Physics eventually went ahead.

Though the main reason seems to be JEE MAINS twice.

As you know that this year percentile system is adopted and there were two sessions with number of slots in each session .
So it can be possible ; because percentile system equalize all the slots ( because it may be possible that one slot is easy and other is difficult).
Rank depend upon your percentile score and percentile depend upon the number of students who score more than you and total number of students in your slot.
And there are tie brackers also which contribute a major role in your ranking.
So don't worry ; rank given is right and it is done by softwares.
