Arts will add a little more credit to your preparation. If you do MA in History or anything like that then you will get a good preparation strategy.

But this doesn't mean that you will not be able to crack while studying BTech. Every year quite a good number of engineers gets into Civil services. But studying arts will make your study process a bit easier.
