Hello

As you said You are in NIT Kolhapur but you want to change your university , Thats not possible , you cannot change you university even in  Sc category ,2nd year

Other Options - You can change your branch within same NIT , You can migrate to any Private or state university by taking NOC from NIT .

Last option is You can take Drop and reappear for JEE ,

we would suggest not to Leave NIT rather try to change your branch

hope this helps

Hello Aspirant,

Yes you can change your University in the 2nd year through the “Institute Transfer (Branch Change/Inter-NIT Migration)” process, but projection under that provision is only applicable under varying degrees of norms set by JoSAA/CSAB and the respective NIT’s. A general rule of thumb:

  • By “cross” transferring between NIT’s is not generally allowed - Branch change is generally only allowed by respective NIT’s within the same institute post first-year.
  • When transferring to another NIT or University it is commonly understood and expectational norm that you must re-apply through JEE Main counseling and just take admission again.
  • Being an SC student is beneficial for your seat existence/seats reservation, however you must still attain the eligibility cut-offs.
  • International/different private/state universities may allow lateral admissions on 2nd year through their own entrance tests too (State Engineering Colleges are DTE exams).

So, practically you cannot just “transfer” from NIT Kolhapur to another NIT in the 2nd year from my keen observations. You have to either continue at NIT Kolhapur and apply for institute internal branch change or re-appear through JEE Main counselling (using your benefits from being SC category) and take admission for the NIT/university of your preference.

Hello Tanvi

As you have already taken admission in a college last year and now this year wish to change the college in your 2nd year, you can use the lateral entry option to get into another college if your college allows it.

Diploma holders use this option to get into 2nd year of various colleges but as you are already studying in a college, you will need a migration/transfer certificate from your college to get into another college.

Thank You!!!
