amie exam is equivalent to b.tech, however exams is mainly opted by diploma candidates who have passed  3 years duration diploma in engineering or  Diploma after ITI (lateral entry). Candidates who have passed 2-year ITI/Vocational Courses in specific stream, after class X and have got lateral entry directly in Second year of 3 year diploma Engineering  Courses from respective State Board of Technical Education are also eligible to apply. however since you have done 12th but not diploma course you are not eligible for amie exam.
