JAM is a national level entrance exam for admissionto M.Sc, Joint M.Sc PhD, M.Sc PhD Dual Degree, and similar programs.

Every year Joint Admission Test for M.Sc (JAM) is being organized by different IITinstitute. Since the IITs organize JAM exam, hence it is also referred to as IIT JAM. 

IIT JAM Eligibility Criteria mandates candidates to hold a Bachelor's Degree. Candidates belonging to General/OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) category must have at least 55% aggregate in Bachelor's. The marks secured include all the subjects studied at the graduation level, without rounding off the marks.

There are seven objective-type test papers inIIT JAM, named as Chemistry (CY), Physics (PH), Mathematics (MA), Geology (GG), Biological Sciences (BL), Mathematical Statistics (MS), Biotechnology (BT).
