Hello Aspirant,

Yes, you can give improvement exams after passing 12th class. It doesn't actually matter if you have taken NEET too and appeared in counseling. Many students choose improvement to increase their 12th standard marks because they think it will help them meet eligibility criteria (for example 50% marks in PCB for General, 40% for SC/ST/OBC, 45% for PwD) . However, please note:

  • Improvement is usually done by the same board (CBSE/State Board) in the next academic session.
  • NEET will consider the latest qualifying marks of the candidate (improvement included).
  • You can again apply for NEET, based on improvement marks.

So Yes, just because you have gone through counselling, does not stop you being able to come out to give improvement.

Yes, you can give the improvement exam even after passing Class 12 and appearing for NEET counseling. Improvement exams are mainly for students who want to increase their marks in one or more subjects. You will need to apply through your respective board (like CBSE, WBCHSE, etc.) by filling out the form and paying the required fees within the given dates. The marks scored in the improvement exam will be considered as your latest marksheet. This will not affect your NEET eligibility, as long as you meet the required percentage criteria. But remember, you cannot change your subjects, only improve in the same ones. Always check the official notification of your board for the exact rules and deadlines.

Hello dear,

thank you for question

Yes, even after passing Class 12 and appearing for NEET, you can definitely appear for improvement exams. The improvement exam system is made for students who want to enhance their Class 12 marks. If you feel that your board marks are not satisfactory or that higher marks can give you an edge in NEET counselling, you can register for improvement in the coming academic session. You will be required to apply through your respective board (like CBSE, state board, etc.), usually in the same subjects that you want to improve. Your original result will remain valid, and after giving the improvement exam, the latest marksheet will be considered as final. However, note that you cannot appear for improvement in only practical exams; you need to reappear for theory papers. Also, if you are reappearing, plan it in such a way that it does not disturb your NEET preparation because NEET requires intense focus. Many students balance both successfully.

Best of luck!

Hello Konpal!

Yes,you can appear for an improvement exam even after giving NEET and attending counselling.

Most boards let you appear for improvement exams in the same year,a few months after the board results. If you want to improve later, you can appear as a private candidate.

Your improved marks can then be used for future NEET attempts, but they won't change the result of the counselling you have already attended.
