Hello there,
With a 79.28 percentile in JEE Mains, getting admission in top government engineering colleges (like NITs or IIITs) is unlikely, as their cutoffs are usually higher (above 85–90 percentile).
However, you may still get seats in:
Some State Government Engineering Colleges (depending on your state and category).
Government-Funded Technical Institutes (GFTIs) with lower cutoffs.
Some less competitive NITs or IIITs if there are leftover seats in later rounds (but chances are low).
You should:
Check your state quota counselling for government colleges.
Consider private colleges or deemed universities as alternatives.
I would recommend you to use the JEE Mains College Predictor Tool by Careers360 to get the list of possible colleges you can get with your rank. I hope this answer helps you. If you have more queries, feel free to share your questions with us, and we will be happy to assist you.
Thank you, and I wish you all the best in your bright future.
