There maybe two scenarios for the case mentioned by you. If you have uploaded the income certificate of previous years in the document submission, and the verification authority reject your application online then there is nothing you can do as they have all the rights to do so.

Now it would be much simple if you have to physically verify the documents to the verification officer as then you can easily show the valid income certificate document and say that the previous one was uploaded by the virtue of mistake.
