Hello aspirant,

IAS preparation needs lots of determination and dedication. For this the eligibility is to be a graduate. And then you can give the exam. This is a valuable exam in India so it needs proper preparation.

But  main thing now is that you are in 10th you this time emphasize only on your boards. In 12 you can pursue any of the stream you want to.

BA,bCom,BSC,barch, btech every graduation is valid for the exam.

Then for IAS exam read all exam specifications and syllabus.

Hope it helps.

Good luck.

Hello,

The eligibility criteria for UPSC is to be a graduate, there is no set minimum aggregate for this, considering this is one of the most prestigious exam in India but its this eligibility criteria that makes people from all disciplines to appear for this exam.

Now, coming to your question, right now your priority should be to focus on your studies and do well, if you wish to pursue architecture in future, obviously you have to go for science stream. And, this does makes one eligible for this exam as I said the criteria is just a graduate.

UPSC exam is designed in such a way that it involves extensive study of so many courses like history, geography, economics, polity etc.

If you want to study in humanity stream keeping this in your mind, you can go ahead and in future you can do graduation in any of the stream.

People from humanities have this added advantage is that they have already studied all the above mentioned courses during their intermediate years, unlike science students.

However, this in no way to diminish that a person from engineering or medicine or science background, cannot make to to the top, there are many examples to justify this answer.

One more important thing, general studies is something every aspirant have to study for UPSC, what differs is the optional, and it helps a lot if you choose your graduation subject for optional(it can be anything, like engineering, medicine and science, literature), because this too involves a higher level of study.

Hope, this helps.
