The basic eligibility criterion for admission to the course is a 10+2 or similar qualification from any recognized educational Board with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as main subjects.

The general admission procedure for most institutes offering this course consists of an entrance examination, and based on performance at all levels, i.e. X, XII, and the entrance exam, admission to the course is given to candidates based on the final cumulative merit.

However, there are many institutes in the country that offer admission to the course based solely on the percentage scored in classes X and XII.
