BDS stands for Bachelor of Dental Surgery which is an undergraduate course in the field of dentistry. After completion of this course, a candidate can practice as a dentist, obtain higher education i.e. pursuing MDS, go for teaching or research or become government doctor. There is a vast scope for dental surgeons in India and abroad.

In order to get admission for the BDS course, it is mandatory to qualify the NEET UG exam.

NEET UG-

The undergraduate NEET (UG), for MBBS and BDS courses, is currently conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA), which provides the results to the Directorate General of Health Services at the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. It is a single entrance test for admissions to more than 66,000 MBBS and BDS seats across India

Eligibility criteria

must have passed class 12th or equivalent with subjects physics, chemistry and biology with minimum 50%

Exam pattern

• Mode of exam- offline

• Duration- 3 hours

• There will be a total of 180 questions carrying 720 marks. 

• The questions will be Multiple choices with four options out of which one will be correct. Each question will be of 4 marks.

• There will be negative marking. One mark will be deducted for each wrong answer.

Section Wise breakup of NEET 2019 question Paper:

• Physics- 45 question carrying 180 marks 

• Chemistry- 45 questions carrying 180 marks 

• Biology- 90 questions carrying 360 marks

After clearing the entrance exam, students will have to participate in the counseling process organized by the respective authority. Seats will be allotted to candidates on the basis of rank, filled choices and availability of seats.
