hi,
if you do your m.sc in physics in iits, you can sense the difference between studies in iits and a normal government college. iits educational system is more practical oriented rather than other state government colleges. also you can join b.tech course which is the application of physics divided in many streams of engineering. b.sc passed candidates can join b.tech from second year of studies. there is some stream of m.sc physics which is more object oriented rather than orthodox msc physics,
hope it would help.
