I am unable to access the site right now  but if you are sure about the fact then the answer to your question  is yes you will get a new rank under general ews which would be lesser than the previous one  provided you fulfill all the criteria of being from the category that is "you should have an annual  family income of 8 lakhs only or less than that apart from belonging to general category".

It is shown that category can be changed but not shown anywhere about effect on rank.

Dont worry you  can change your category during counseling  provided you should have a proof of your being from general ews and you'll definitely get to see a good difference in your rank.All the best .
