If you drop for one year, then you may not be able to give the 1st year exams. Hence you have to clear the exams for first year, and then you can attend 2nd year. Better way is to do parallel study of NEET and 1st year. Even if you miss NEET, you wont lose your 1st year, this is the same what I did.

Because, you wont be promoted without clearing first year exams. And you get referred, you will be lagging your degree.
