After completing your MBBS, you can join Indian Army. Every year, the Army medical Corps invites applications to join the Short service commission or SSC. Those who complete their MBBS from Civil Hospitals are eligible to apply for this. In Army medical Corps there is another part which is called Permanent Commission where only Doctors from AFMC Pune are directly invited. However, after filling the application of SSC, the eligible candidates will be called for Interview. Based on the performance in the Interview, candidates will be shortlisted. This shortlisted candidates will have to appear for medical examination in Armed Forces Hospitals. Final selection will be based on the medical examination. There is an other also. After completing your MBBS, you can join Armed Forces Medical Services for Post graduation through Neet PG.

A military doctor provides health care to military personnel and their families and can work in a variety of settings. You can adopt the following procedure to become a military doctor:

  • Obtain a bachelor's degree
  • Earn a medical degree
  • Meet military eligibility and selection requirements
