Admission to IIT is solely depend on your JEE ADVANCED score. But to qualify for JEE ADVANCED one has to take JEE MAINS and get a certain required rank/marks. And when a candidate is eligible for JEE ADVANCED then he has to take the JEE ADVANCED test that is usually in the month of May. And then admission to IIT is solely depend on the ADVANCED scores/rank.
