Hello student, you can graduate in one stream and go for higher studies in another stream. So ofcourse you can. But you need to be well equipped with subject before giving gate exam. You will be giving gate exam for chemical engineering. So you need to know the entire syllabus and everything

It's like two opposite sides, if you are ok with shifting to a completely different stream, then go for it
