I'm currently doing B.E in computer science; can i do a masters in astrophysics after this?or do i need a bachelors in science or something

Hey,

Masters in Astrophysics is a two year programme. It equips a student with the thorough  aspects of astronomy and critical research-oriented attitude.

The eligibility criteria required for admission to this course is graduation completed with science from a recognised university with a minimum aggregrate score of 50 per cent.

Some of the universities that offer Masters in Astrophysics are Osmania University,Andhara University,Punjabi University.

Admission to the course is conducted in 2 stages- Institutional Test and Personal Interview .

so what is it? a YES or a NO? can i pursue a masters in astrophysics with a graduate degree in engineering?

Hey Kundana,Well yes it is possible to get into Astrophysics post Engineering provided you have deep intrest in Physics for that's the only thing that can help you.If you can then choose physics department electives. You may attend summer schools like IUCAA,TIFR or IIA.Keep reading Science magazines and keep yourself abreast with Science and research for you are going to switch to Research and Science from Technology. You gotta write JAM in Physics,JEST and JAM.Good luck.

thank you Deepshika,can i write like maybe engineering sciences in GATE and still get into astrophysics?and what if i do write JAM and JEST, will a uni accept my application even though my bachelors is in technology? if yes could you like suggest some really good institutes which provide master courses in astrophhysics and related subjects?(maybe cosmology)

Dear Student,

Yes you should have a bachelor's degree in science stream to take admission in Msc in Astrophysics with 50% marks in aggregate from a recognised university. Some institute take admission on the basis of merit and some take on the basis of admission test followed by the interview, on the basis of which final admission process is carried forward.
