Gate cutoff for 2017 General category  was around (25-34) (ME, CE, EE, EC, CS )

Gate Marks, Gate Score, Gate Rank.

These are the three different metrics used for calculating GATE result. Let us first try to understand what these are.

Gate Marks:
Absolute Marks(100) that you score in that three hour exam
This depends on the difficulty level of the question paper.
eg. 48 marks in GATE 2012 may be equal to 35 marks in gate 2013.

Gate Score:
Relative Score(Scaled to 1000), this depends on the no of applicants and your performance wrt others.

Gate Rank:
This is AIR(All India rank), Its relative rank given to each GATE qualified student based on your marks.
