Correct Answer: 3875

Solution : Let the total votes be 100.
Invalid votes = 20%
Valid votes = 80%
Total votes got by winning candidate = 73% of valid votes = $73\times\frac{80}{100}=58.4$
Total votes got by losing candidate = 27% of valid votes = $27\times\frac{80}{100}=21.6$
Difference = 58.4 – 21.6 = 36.8
Given the difference in votes is 1426.
So, Total polled vote = $ \frac{100}{36.8}×1426= 3875$
Hence, the correct answer is 3875.
