Hello aspirant, you can get admission in NIT by giving attempt in JEE Mains, but you've to meet the expected cut off of the NIT TO get the admission. And you can attempt JEE Advanced too and still get into NIT but your Mains score should meet the cut off score of NIT.

The score expected however depends on your category, if you belong to general category, the cut off is not yet out but you've to be among the top rank to get admission. The minimum score would be 180 and 180+ though I guess.

JEE Advanced Exam is for admission in IITs only. JEE Advanced Exam ranks have nothing to do with NITs admission. Yes, if you have scored well in JEE Mains but failed in Advanced can appear in JoSSA counselling and get the relevant college as per their rank in JEE Advanced.

For NITs, JEE Mains is the only way....
