Mercury rules North direction

Sun rules east direction

Jupiter rules North-East direction

East direction gives - growth, progress, achievement & prosperity

North direction gives - Intelligence, self learning, capability.

North east supports research work etc.

A study table can be placed on the North side or east side of a room you  can sit facing either North or East.

To achieve proficiency in mathematics and science, you should study facing West to improve concentration.

If you study facing South, it develops good debating skills, logical ability in maths, and sharp business acumen. For creative skills (programming) and/or religious kind of work, you can study facing East or North-East.

Actually it is completely depend upon your mind and comfort. But if you have some believe in vastu and those things you can apply it. As per vastu you should seat facing east or north while studying. You also can let your study table at the North East corner of your room.
