Joint Entrance Exam Main is held twice every year for the admission of NIT,IIIT and GFTI.If you clear the JEE Main exam then you will be able to appear for JEE Advance.JEE Advance score is used to get admission in IIT's. JEE Main 2021 will be organized in the month of January 2021 as well as in April 2021 through online CBT mode.

The NTA takes JEE mains exam in the month of January and April. Now this year the JEE mains was successfully completed in January session but due to this pandemic situation of covid-19 the April session was taken in September month 2020.
Now still there is no official release of JEE mains 2021 notification but as per the tentative dates - the notification of JEE mains 2021 will be released in the month of November 2020 and the registration for January session might start in the month of December 2020.
But if the situation of this covid-19 doesn't gets controlled then there is a chance that the January session of JEE mains 2021 would be postponed.

So is is advisable that you check the official sites regularly for any updates.
