1. You can go for higher studies (M. (http://m.sc/) Sc. Nursing PhD. etc)
2. You can become specialised nurse ( nursing supervisor, paediatrics nurse, nursing superintendent, community health nurse etc.)
3. You can become a Nursing tutor and help in growth of future nurses.
4. You can easily get jobs in government or private hospitals .
5. Nurse is high demand in abroad as well.

Well there are PROS and CONS as well about this course.

First I would like to mention the cons-

1. 1st year is hell, you will feel like you role is nothing but a personal cleaner because of the all hygienic procedure. And if you are doing nursing from PGIMER, Prepare yourself for relentless condemnation from teachers, lack of respect from hospital staff because they through you in hospital setting to deal with patients in the the 3rd month of 1st year.
2. You have to earn your respect. Believe me no one knows what nursing is. Even I was unaware until I stepped into the real world. Don’t lack in studies or improving your skills. Because in the end it is your intellect and skill set which going to allow you to keep your head high in front of bunch of MD students and doctors and other HCPs.
3. Its exhausting and demanding job. Night shifts, life and death situations , continuous standing, walking, bedding and lifting heavy objects will put strain on body. And forget about celebrating festivals every year.
4. Mental exhaustion, deal with it everyone says nurses are rude but No one says why? irrequisite demeaning from patients and attendants, and even fellow doctors technicians is a usual thing.

NOW positives.

1. Respectful. Paradoxical right. but eventually your work will make it happen.
2. Lucrative remuneration- with right path and job.. you can have hefty salary at the end of month and let bygone any financial issues.
3. Scope- I wouldn’t say there is scope in India but in foreign lands , definitely plentiful of them. But, the path is not cake walk.
4. Health access- To both you and your family. No worry for any unknown disease. Because you will no which path to follow and will get enormous benefit if your organization have incentives for their workers.
5. Satisfaction- Irrespective of some ignorant, there are people, both co-workers and community, who respect us and our contribution, show gratification and in the the long run become reliable acquaintance or even friends( Not patients- maintain strict professionalism)

I wouldn’t say Nursing is highly respectful job in society’s view but the scenario is changing. With increasing participation of both male and females this profession is turning over.

In the end I only want to say If you want to be economically stable at young age, ready work hard and want to fulfil some purpose in life . NURSING IS FOR YOU.. BUT MAKE YOUR MIND STRONG BEFORE EVEN STEPPING IN THIS WORLD.
