Your percentile when calculated will not change when calculated category wise as well as overall.Percentile is the percentage of candidates who have scored less or equal marks in a session.So the formula will be
(100*Number of candidates in the session who have scored less or equal marks than a particular candidate)/Total number of candidates appeared on that particular session
Percentile is used to normalise the score.
But your rank changes when calculated category wise and overall.Rank will be lower when calculated category wise than when calculated overall.Suppose you that your overall rank was 15000 your category wise rank will be 6000(this is just an example).
