Hello aspirant ,

Both are different from every aspect,  so yes there are miscompustion sometimes times happen but actually they are different.  computer science (CS) and computer engineering (CE) are tech fields oriented around computer and information systems. For example, both CS and CE majors must learn foundational skills such as coding and testing computer software.

Hello Diya,

Computer science and computer engineering are two different fields

Go through the comparison below to better understand both the fields

Computer Science began as a branch of mathematics, whereas Computer Engineering began as a part of electrical engineering (and is still viewed by some).

Students studying computer science learn about computing theory, programming, environments, algorithms, data security, and data transfer, among other things. Microchips, circuits, processors, conductors, and any other components utilised in computer devices or systems are developed, prototyped, and tested by Computer Engineering students (e.g. supercomputers, smartphones, laptops, servers, IoT gadgets). They also create firmware, which is a sort of software that allows operating systems and applications to fully utilise hardware.

Computational theories, powerful algorithms, and mathematical models are utilised by computer scientists to create software programmes and systems. On the other side, computer engineers create the hardware and firmware that software and systems run on.

I have listed below some specialisations that you might pursue after completing a graduate degree in computer science.

Computer Science specialisations

  • Artificial Intelligence
  • Machine Learning
  • Human-Computer Interaction (HIC)
  • Data Science
  • Cyber Security
  • Cloud Computing
  • Video Game Development

Computer Engineering specialisations

  • Hardware Systems
  • Distributed Computing
  • Robotics and Cybernetics
  • Embedded Systems
  • Computer Graphics and Visualisation
  • Medical Image Computing
  • Computer and Network Security
