Why not ,you are done with your dilpoma and joined btech right !

Btech students are eligible for GATE!

When you done with Diploma and joined 2nd year of engineering  which means you are a btech student right !

Then obviously you are eligible dear.

yes, the eligibity for gate is as follows

Bachelor Degree holders in engineering/Technolgy(4 year after 10+2 or 3 year after B.Sc/Diploma in Engineering) who have passed or in final year are eligible to apply

There is no age limit for GATE Exam
