following are the details of the GAT exam https://gat.gitam.edu/examination
it says that the exam duration is 2 hours while jee mains is of three hour duration and a prestigous exam for admission to the NITs. the syllabus for the two exams is nearly the same but i would expect the difficulty level of jee mains would be higher than GAT exam.
