No doubt HC Verma is the most recommended book for physics, but it is only recommendable up-to preparation for JEE main examination. JEE advanced is a lot tougher and HC Verma is barely sufficient for it. But, since you are taking online lessons, I'm might have an edge and you can try preparing from HC Verma book.

HC Verma is the preferable book by the students but it is not enough for JEE Main & Advance Entrance Exams. In order to crack the exam the steps you can follow.

    Start with the textbooks, NCERT or state board. Learn the concepts right.

    Make short notes of the formulae with one example to remember during last minute revision attempts.

    Revise strong topics and learn weak ones well.

    Write a test once a topic is done to strengthen the subject learnt.

    Check questions from the topic from past year papers and see if they can be solved.
