Hello,

The Indian Nursing Council (INC) suitability is crucial for the recognition of the General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) course. Here’s a breakdown:

  1. INC Recognition Requirement : For the GNM course to be recognized by the INC, the institution offering the course must be INC-approved, which ensures the curriculum meets national standards for nursing education.

  2. Mandatory Throughout Course : INC suitability applies throughout the entire duration of the GNM course (3 academic years), not just in one year. Continuous compliance with INC standards is necessary.

  3. Impact on Job Opportunities : Graduating from an INC-recognized program is essential for eligibility to work as a nurse in India. Without INC approval, the course may not be accepted by employers or professional regulatory bodies.

  4. Ongoing Accreditation : Students must ensure that their institution maintains INC approval throughout their study period for valid certification and employment prospects.

In short, INC suitability is mandatory for the full duration of the GNM course.

Hope it helps !

If your nursing college only received INC (Indian Nursing Council) approval for one year, it means that the degree earned by students graduating during that year would be considered valid, but the college would need to reapply for approval each subsequent year to continue enrolling new students and issuing valid degrees; essentially, the college would not be able to offer the nursing program beyond that one year unless they receive renewed approval from the INC.

If the college fails to reapply or does not receive renewed approval, current students may face disruptions in their education and potentially need to transfer to another nursing program. While the degree earned during the approved year remains valid, potential employers might be hesitant to hire graduates from a college with a short-term INC approval.

If you are concerned about the future of your nursing education, explore the possibility of transferring to a different nursing college with a longer-term INC approval.

Good luck!!!
