Biotechnology as a field has not really boomed in the market yet so there is very little scope (monetary basis). It will take quite some years for biotech to be in a good position in the market. If you are a kind of person who would not mind working in the lab and discovering something new, this is the way to go.

MBBS has been in vogue since ages but it has its own pros and cons associated with it. You have to really like what you study otherwise you wont be able to ace it.

If you want to cure diseases and save people from misery, do MBBS. If you want to find cure for diseases and save people from misery, do medical biotechnology. In India if you are looking for a respectable job, join MBBS. Biotech field started way back in India and it's pretty much saturated. But if you can excell in it, it's no different!!!
