Yes, mathematics is essential to clear the NDA exam. During NDA entrance exam there are two types of paper, the first one is mathematics and the second one is of general ability test. So the part one that is mathematics is mandatory to clear the NDA exam.

Look as I have searched it is compulsory to give Mathematics as it is included in the syllabus of National Defence Academy. I am mentioning below the name of important concepts which are under mathematics section of National Defence Academy examination:

• Algebra
• trigonometry
• matrices and determinants
• Applications height and distance
• Property of triangles
• Binomial theorem and its applications logarithms and their applications
• Angles and their measures in degree and in radians
