See no course is tough or easy. Every course have its own advantages and disadvantages. BTech IT and BTech CSE are similar kind of course and offers similar opportunities in the industries. Aspirants who want to be programmers and want to work in IT companies are interested this kind of course. Despite of this CSE and IT have some difference which is of great significance.

CSE is a more elaborative field than IT. This field not only goes with the software but also teaches you about the Hardware, Computer Architecture etc. Thus CSE have more spectral gratings than that of IT in terms of the subject matter. IT mostly focuses on Data Management, Programming and web development, software development etc. IT don't cover the wider paths as covered by CSE.

Now if you want to learn in more details about the CS then go for CSE and if you just want to learn about the applied part then go for Information technology. Laterwards, you will find that both CSE and IT works together in most of the companies in the same responsible post. Thus, you will get same opportunity studying either of this course but the details of study will differ.

** Now if you need to compare between two then I would say CSE is tougher than IT as CSE deals with a large spectrum of subjects (Although this comparision is immaterial as both of them are equally important and have equal scopes).
