It is not mandatory to choose SRMJEE exam centres from the same state and you can choose any centre as there are 127 centres in India to write the SRMJEE exam.You have to choose three centres to write the exam out of which the in most of the cases the first centre is given based on seats availability . In case there is no availability of seats you will be given your 2nd or 3rd preference.It is advised to choose centres in your state as it would be easy for you.
