Well we are here to help you so disturbing is not a factor. Feel free to ask anything. And yes you can apply for first choice to be an IIT Or NIT, it doesn't matter. Also their is no limit on how many colleges you can choose so go on and put all those in which you want to even they are impossible for you.

Hello there. With that rank it's quite difficult to get a seat in NIT silchar, but you can still try as luck might be a factor in favour of you

Hello there. While filling for JOSSA counseling, your preference always matters. How the thing goes is like they firstly check for your first preference and if it suits the seat then they will allot it to you otherwise will look for next preference. In any case one has filled any particular institute and branch as their first preference and another one with almost same rank and also goes for same college and branch but put the preference on lower part. So for the second one, firstly his top priority will be checked and if any preference at upper level matches it will not look on lower preference. So the preference does matter while filling the application

correct Sir but what my question was that do they check the first preference of all the persons of all the  candidates and then go for second preference of all the candidates and does go on or individually

They check out for every candidate. It's like taking first preference of all the candidates and then looking out whether he/she is eligible for that seat or not. If yes they put the name in merit list otherwise will move to next preference. They will check out preference wise for all the candidates and will give the seat accordingly. That's why it is always said to give preference to one in which you want to get the admission.
