For Nits and iits its a must,even various other colleges take jee mains score under consideration. But for your state cet,vit,bits,manipal,kiit,comedk colleges its not needed

For admission in most of the college you will need to have appeared for IIT JEE.sonce,if you are applying for a private college you need to give the exam of that particular college if it helds otherwise most the college asleast asks for the IIT JEE main exams.
So,its better to give the exam rather to neglect it.
If someone got qualified in JEE mains and not in JEE advanced then there are possiblity that getting good score he can get a state government college or through that he can apply for good private colleges also.

For admission in most of the colleges it is mandatory to appear for jee mains.But still you can apply for other engineering entrance exams like VITEEE,SRMJEEE,BITSAT,COMEDK,UPSEE,MHTCET,IPUCET,...and many more to get admission in their respective colleges.
If you don't want to give jee mains then the above engineering entrance exams are the best options available to you.

It depends,as if you want to take admission in private university or colleges then you can go ahead with the respective entrance exams.Jee main is for getting into NITs and other govt. Institutions.
