Both are two different fields so you can not compare . There are many private colleges like BITS,VIT etc and they are giving strong competition to even top NIT'S and low rank IIT'S. Both Marine Engineering and Engineering has great career scopes Ahead. It totally depends upon your choice. As a Marine engineer you can join private or government shipping companies and earn in dollars. later you can switch to any off shore jobs or teaching in Marine institutes. You can apply for any Government organization with your graduation degree. As a engineer also you can work in your domain, IT field, Government jobs, Banking jobs, Higher studies etc. You can also pursue your B.tech in Mechanical engineering then go for post graduation in marine engineering colleges so that you can have a option for switch to both fields. So Both of these have good career option. The Choice depends upon you.
