M.Sc Data science syllabus is more or less different from MCA , Where Data science encourages you to learn analysis of solving techniques as well as collecting and extracting data, MCA is a wider course about computer applications with good knowledge of programming language .

In view of placement jobs .. with data science , you may get backend developing or related jobs but with MCA .. you have good chances to opt software engg job positions in careers with good salary package.

Both of these courses can get you a good job though MCA will get you a software developer role while MSc in DS will get you a data scientist role.

I am not sure which institutes you are considering but as far as I know there are very few good data science courses in India while you will find a lot of good MCA colleges. And atleast for the first job college rank matters.

Try opting for Msc as it is usually 1–2 years. On contrary MCA is a 3 years course. Both have equal chances of getting hired if you dedicate decent amount of time for your studies. Try doing it from a reputable college which has a good placement record. Trust me, college plays a good role in getting a job as soon as your graduate.

In the end please do consider your interests as well. In terms of money both jobs will pay well although you will find more software development roles than data science roles in India.
