No they are not necessary. It depends whether you are comfortable with that book or not. 

There are a large number of books available because of which you can choose, with which one you are comfortable.

Many reference books and also books from famous authors are there. Just keep in mind that studying two books completely is always better than studying 4 books incompletely.
