As per your query.production engineering is a core section of engineering but cse  branch is a software  section. now a day cse branch has a more scope  then production engineer in a private sector.but coming to goverment sector number of vacancy  coming for production engineer is greater than cse branch .All psu recuriting a production engineers through a gate
