Hello. If you participate in state counselling , then state rank is important. Incase of all India quota, no requirement of state rank needed.

But in both cases it benefits in competition with category option as well.

In NEET, 85% of the seats in MBBS colleges are reserved for state quota students. That means students belonging to that particular state claim under this quota. Remaining 15% of seats are All India Quota which means can student from any state can apply through this.

Now, yes, state rank helps you to get seat under state quota. This gives your ranking in your domicile state. State counselling is conducted by the respective state authorities.

State rank can be important if you wish to get admission is a good college in your state, if you want to get into a well known college, than you need a good rank because the best college will have a high cut off to get the best students.
